Republic Day Celebrations

Republic Day Celebrations

The RC family celebrated the 94th year of the Turkish Republic with enthusiasm. The privileges granted by the republic system were discussed, with the aim of becoming aware of the values that it bestowed on Turkey as a society and as individuals. The message that was given was that the republic system is the best one to promote democracy, therefore individual rights and freedom can only be guaranteed with this system, that the country can benefit from democratic rights and have a place among modern societies as long as the Turkish people embrace and foster the republic.

The Republic Day Celebration Committee prepared the ceremony program together with teachers and students, for a meaningful celebration of this important day in Turkey's history. In addition to the ceremony, guest speaker Prof. Dr. Zafer Toprak gave a talk to L11 and L12 students on the history of the foundation of the Turkish Republic, and shared his studies of that period.
Prof. Toprak teaches Economic and Social History at Boğaziçi and Koç universities, and his articles and books about the Ottoman Empire's 19th and 20th centuries and the economic and social history of the Turkish Republic have been published in Turkish, English, French, and German.
